Duluth, Georgia
is considered a suburb of Atlanta, located in the northwest quadrant of Gwinnett County and on the border of Fulton County and bounded on one side by the Chattahoochee River. Duluth is connected to Atlanta by Interstate 85, Highway 23 (the Buford Highway) and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Duluth has a prime location, close enough to every imaginable activity and business opportunity, yet far enough away from the "urban jungle." The city has seen phenomenal growth in the past few years. Between 1970-1990, the city's population grew by 399%, which outpaced Gwinnett County, the Atlanta region, and the State of Georgia as a whole. Throughout the '90s, Gwinnett businesses added 12,825 new jobs per year, employing 254,600 individuals by April 1999. Gwinnett is home to 700 manufacturing companies, nearly 500 high-tech companies, and 247 international companies.
